Pine Retreat Mussoorie

Dear Readers,

When you arrive at The Pine Retreat, I hope you don’t just see a hotel — but a home away from home. Tucked amidst old pine trees yet only a few minutes from the bustling Mall Road, it’s a rare pocket of quiet in today’s Mussoorie.

These walls have held stories for over a century. They've sheltered officers on leave during wartime, echoed with children's laughter during summer school days, and we’ve tried to preserve every bit of its old-world charm while ensuring all comforts of today find their place here too.

Whether you wake up to mist hanging over the valley or spend your evening in the garden with a cup of tea, I hope you find the same calm that made me fall in love with this place.

History Of The Property

The foundation stone of ‘Doon View’, as it was called before being renamed to “Pine Retreat”, was laid in 1916.

During the Second World War, this property served as a leave centre for military personnel.

Mr. William James Smith used the property to run a Summer School for a brief amount of time.

The YWCA of Mussoorie purchased the property from Mr. Smith of Zephr Hall, Mussoorie.

It was only in 1994 that the property was renamed to Pine Retreat.

The Hotel Structure is over 100 years old, which is now completely renovated, keeping in mind the old ambience of the place.

Recently refurbished with a modern look and state-of-the-art amenities.
